Content From Humans For Humans

Artificial intelligence (AI) can be put to many good uses, and generative AI can certainly help with repetitive tasks. However, here at The Dental Institute, we believe that as long as actual humans with dental problems need dental care delivered by humans, our educational material is created by humans for humans. So far, every article except one was written by actual dentists who have the experience treating real people, and the one article not written by a dentist was written by a real human who knows how dental anxiety feels. We will continue publishing only content crafted by humans since AI never suffers from a toothache.

At The Dental Institute, acceptable uses for AI are limited to:

  • Spelling and grammar checking
  • Language editing
  • Formatting of slides and figures
  • Presentation practice and feedback
  • Create templates for emails and documents
  • Assist with repetitive office tasks
  • Creating translation drafts to be reviewed and finalized by humans
  • Explore scientific literature
  • Exploring data
  • Kickstart creativity
  • Start discussion

If AI is used as part of research writing published by The Dental Institute, the process in which AI was used needs to be described in detail to allow replication, and a log of the AI interaction has to be made available as supplemental material.

The Dental Institute will not:

  • Publish AI-generated articles, content, images, sounds, or video
  • Pass off AI-generated material as human, or without proper attribution
